This Guy Is Suing His Ex Fiancée For Not Giving Back Her Engagement Ring After Their Breakup

Forty five year-old Philip Langer is suing his ex fiancée, 43-year-old Ashley Jae Chesler, for not returning his $30,000 engagement ring after breaking off their relationship, The New York Post reports

Langer met Chesler at a bar in New York City in 2014, and after a seemingly whirwind romance proposed to her just three months later. The engagement ring? A custom-made piece featuring a 2.52 carat diamond surrounded by 34 rubies and 55 smaller diamonds. Chelser has reportedly refused to give the ring back after dumping him (for reasons not made public), however, so now Langer has filed court papers demanding she either return it or reimburse him for its cost.
And he apparently has  good standing to do so, as according to NY State Law, "an engagement ring is considered a conditional gift, where the condition is that the marriage actually takes place. This means that if the marriage does not take place and the bachelor asks for the ring back, then the potential bride will most likely have to return the engagement ring to the bachelor."
