Electric Cable Thieves Caught and Tied to Transformer in Abuja

The two Abuja cable thieves
It was a bad day in the office for two suspected cable thieves as they were caught and after a thorough beating, were tied to a transformer at Anagada village, Gwagwalada Area Council, of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Daily Trust reports.

It was gathered that the thieves did not bargain for what they got after they sneaked into the enclosure housing the transformer to steal cables but they were caught in the act and an angry mob descended on them and gave them the beating of their lives, before tying them to the transformer.

A resident of the community said the two suspects allegedly went to vandalize a newly installed transformer at the outskirts of the community but a security guard at the village primary school heard strange sounds from the direction of the transformer and raised alarm.

“That attracted the attention of some youths who ran after them. One of them was apprehended and taken to the chief’s palace. But luck ran out on the second one who came back the next day to carry the cables inside the sack when he was also nabbed and tied to the transformer fence together with the first one,” he said.

The two suspects were later handed over to men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at Gwagwalada.
