Prize to be won:Poets from Nigeria, Africa and all over the world are hereby invited to submit their poems on the theme: ‘CONFUSION: THE NEW WORLD (DIS)ORDER?’ for the BRIGITTE POIRSON POETRY CONTEST (BPPC) SEASON III, 2017 (March edition).
We live in a world where confusion seems to be the order of the day. Human rights tend to be manipulated to become toys to amuse the naive; corruption is more and more viewed as a proof and instrument of might, money as a sign of intelligence. Is promoting economic, political, and moral confusion not a way to ensure domination? Does this old weapon not threaten civilization?
Who, better than a poet, can expose these dangers and point the right way forward?
Prize to be won:

  • The winning poem will be awarded a cash prize of N7000, certificate and books
  • All top 10 poems automatically qualify for the Albert Jungers Poetry Prize (AJPP) 2017
  • All top 10 poems will be published in the annual BPPC 2017 anthology and all top 10 poets will receive a free copy and certificates
Entries will be received until 11:59 PM, FRIDAY MARCH 24, 2017.
The last edition of the BPPC (February 2016) was won by poet EMMANUEL FAITH, an Economics student at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with the poem ‘CAN WE BE EQUAL?

Patriotic Nigerian poets living in or outside the country are hereby invited to submit well-worded poems on Nigeria for an anthology that seeks to poetically rewrite the sad story of our nation’s journey from 2015 to 2017.
Only 150 poems will be selected from the entries for the anthology to be published in April 2017 and publicly presented in May 2017 and each featured poet will get a free copy.
If you believe and are truly committed to nation building, and you are a poet, just write a poem no more than 25 lines on any of the experiences of or problems facing Nigeria (2015 to 2017), ending the poem on an optimistic note.
This project is for those who believe in the unity, peace, and overall progress of our nation. It's for those who wish that the problems of Nigeria be solved for the good of Nigerians, that a better future awaits Nigerians.
